Tails is a live system you boot from a USB stick. The network path is Tor. When you shut down, the session is gone unless you turned on the encrypted persistent folder. Nothing about the design wants to be your everyday laptop.
Tor is slow, and some sites block it. The persistent volume is convenient and it is also a disk of secrets if someone takes the stick and you picked a weak passphrase. Tails does not make you anonymous if you log into your real accounts. It forgets the computer. It does not forget what you typed into a site that knows you.
Use it for a session that must not leave a local history. Download it only from the official site and check the signature. tails.net
Verify the Tails download. A tampered USB image is worse than no Tails. Leave persistence off until you know why you need a stored file. If you enable it, the passphrase is the whole disk. Do not log into personal accounts from a session you started because you needed anonymity. Tor hides the path. Your username does the opposite. Bridges exist when Tor itself is blocked.
