BellCrier Academy is operated by Goal Prevail LLC (Delaware, USA).
Last updated: 29 September 2026
This policy explains what personal data BellCrier Academy (academy.bellcrier.com, the “Academy”) collects and why. The Academy is BellCrier’s free blog of privacy guides and news. It is a separate website from the BellCrier breach-monitoring service: your BellCrier account, monitored email addresses and breach results are never shared with the Academy, and Academy accounts are not linked to BellCrier accounts.
For anything this page doesn’t cover (your rights, international transfers, security, children and how to reach us), the BellCrier Privacy Policy applies to the Academy too.
1. Who is responsible
Goal Prevail LLC, 254 Chapman Rd, Ste 208, Newark, Delaware 19702, USA, is the data controller. Contact us at [email protected] or through the BellCrier contact form (topic “Privacy or data request”).
2. Reading the Academy
You can read everything without an account. We don’t use analytics, advertising or cross-site tracking cookies or pixels, and we don’t build profiles of readers.
- Server and security logs. Like any website, our hosting server and Cloudflare (which protects and speeds up the site) process your IP address, browser details, the pages you request and the time, to deliver the pages and keep the site secure. These logs are kept for a limited period and then deleted or anonymized.
- Search. What you type in the search box is used only to show results and may appear in those logs.
- Your Dark/Light choice is remembered in your own browser (local storage). It never reaches us.
3. Suggesting a topic (contact form)
If you use the form on the Suggest Content page, we receive your name, email address, subject and message. The form sends them to our inbox by email; the website itself doesn’t store form entries, but our email plugin keeps a copy of sent emails for 14 days for delivery troubleshooting. We use your message only to read your suggestion and reply, and keep it for up to 24 months. Legal basis (GDPR): our legitimate interest in answering you.
4. Academy accounts and new-post emails
We’re not opening new Academy accounts at the moment. If you already have one, we keep your username, email address, display name (if you set one), a hashed password and your email preference. We use them to sign you in and, unless you turned it off, to email you when a new post is published. Every such email has an unsubscribe link, and you can switch alerts off or delete your account at any time on your account page. When you delete it, we remove your account and stop all emails. Legal basis (GDPR): our agreement with you (the account) and your choice to receive alerts.
5. Embedded posts and videos (X, YouTube)
Some articles quote a post from X or include a video from YouTube. We don’t load them automatically: you see a placeholder, and only if you click to load or play it does your browser contact X (Twitter) or YouTube (Google). They then receive your IP address and browser details and may set their own cookies, under X’s privacy policy and Google’s privacy policy. YouTube videos play in its privacy-enhanced mode (youtube-nocookie.com).
5a. The “check your email” box
Articles and the sidebar have a box for checking your email with BellCrier. The Academy doesn’t read or store what you type there: when you press the button, your browser sends the address straight to bellcrier.com, which opens with it filled in. Nothing is checked until you confirm on bellcrier.com, where the BellCrier Privacy Policy applies.
6. Cookies
- Sign-in cookies, set by WordPress only if you sign in, to keep you signed in and protect forms.
- Security cookies that Cloudflare may set to tell people from bots.
We use no other cookies. Because we don’t track you across websites, we treat every visitor the same whether or not their browser sends a Do Not Track or Global Privacy Control signal.
7. Who we share data with
We don’t sell or rent personal data. We use a hosting provider (the website and its email), Cloudflare (delivery and protection) and, only if you load an embedded post or video, X or YouTube. We may disclose information where the law requires it, as described in the BellCrier Privacy Policy.
8. Links and banners
Articles and the sidebar link to other websites, such as the tools we write about and occasional partner banners. The banner images are served from the Academy itself, so the partner learns nothing about you unless you click through. Other sites have their own privacy practices, so please check them before giving them any data.
9. Your rights
Depending on where you live, you can ask to access, correct or delete your data, object to how we use it, or complain to a data protection authority. See section 12 of the BellCrier Privacy Policy for details, or email [email protected].
10. Changes
If we change how the Academy handles data (for example, if we reopen accounts or add features), we’ll update this page and its date first.
