PhotoPrism is a self-hosted photo library with search for faces, places, objects, and colors, including RAW files. The recognition runs on your server. It is happy to index a folder you already sync with Nextcloud or Syncthing. It is a catalog, not a phone-backup service and not an offsite copy.
The indexer is heavy. A large RAW archive wants a real CPU and disk. The phone apps are behind Immich if automatic backup is the main job. Because the server sees the files, do not put PhotoPrism on a machine you do not trust. A library with one disk is still one disk.
Use it to search a collection you already store. photoprism.app
PhotoPrism’s import can copy or index in place. Index in place if the files already live in a folder you back up. A second copy inside PhotoPrism doubles the disk. Face recognition on a large library is an overnight job. Do it on a machine that is allowed to see the pictures. Do not expose the web UI to the internet without a login and HTTPS. A catalog of your children is a worse leak than a slow search box.
