A front door with a small doorbell and a plain speaker on a hallway shelf.

The Aqara Doorbell Camera Hub G410 is an Aqara Zigbee doorbell for people who want porch video and a sensor hub in one indoor unit. Aqara says the chime is a hub for Aqara Zigbee devices, a Thread border router, and a Matter controller.1 Face recognition runs on the doorbell, recordings can sit on a memory card indoors, and a wired unit can send video across your home network to Home Assistant.2

What the Aqara Zigbee doorbell does (and how it protects your privacy)

The G410 ships as a factory-paired outdoor doorbell and indoor chime, and the manual says you cannot unbind them or mix sets.4 Aqara’s EU listing calls the G410 a Zigbee 3.0 hub, a Thread border router, and a Matter controller.2 Zigbee is a low-power sensor radio. Matter is a shared smart-home language.

Aqara markets the camera as 2K, with infrared night vision.1 The manual lists 2048 by 1536 pixels and a 175° diagonal view.4 A millimetre-wave radar is meant to cut false alerts, and the chime reaches 95 dB.1 Aqara says face recognition runs on the device and can start automations without uploading that face data.2

The microSD slot is in the chime. Cards up to 512 GB are supported and sold separately. Continuous recording needs wired power. On batteries the doorbell sleeps until someone stays or rings.14 The EU listing also offers NAS backup, a copy on a drive in your network, and HomeGuardian cloud backup that Aqara calls end-to-end encrypted.21 RTSP, a way to hand live video to another app on your network, works only when the doorbell is wired.1

Is the Aqara G410 safe and private?

Lumi United Technology Co., Ltd., in Shenzhen, makes the doorbell and is the data holder in its EU Data Act notice for the G410 and the G4.45 The notice says Lumi generally does not share this product data with third parties, and that it asks for consent when a third party is needed. Cloud retention is up to 7 days. Requests go to [email protected].5

The privacy policy, updated 10 July 2024, says Aqara may collect a serial number, device location, logs, usage history, and device status. It lists centres in China, the United States, Singapore, Korea, Russia, and Germany, with EU personal information under the GDPR stored in Germany.6 Apple’s US listing says Aqara Home can link photos or videos, audio, and precise location to you, and it shows version 6.4.4 dated 16 October, after the December 2025 releases.7

The manual says links with iPhone, iPad, Apple Watch, HomePod, or Mac are secured by HomeKit.4 Beside that, use the indoor card, the EU listing’s NAS backup, HomeGuardian, or a wired stream into a recorder you run, such as Frigate.12

How to get started with the Aqara G410

  1. Order the G410 from Aqara. The box includes the doorbell, chime, six AA batteries, a USB-C cable, and a 20° wedge. Add a Class 10 microSD card, up to 512 GB.24
  2. Install Aqara Home from the Apple App Store or Google Play. The US listing is free and needs iOS 15.1 or later.47
  3. Power the chime first, phone on the same Wi-Fi. When the light flashes yellow, add Doorbell Camera Hub G410. Solid blue means it has joined.4
  4. Power the outdoor unit with the batteries or 12–24 V AC or DC. Mount it about 1.4 to 1.5 metres high, beside a metal door rather than on it, with the chime within about 10 metres.42
  5. Insert the card in the chime. Wired power is what enables 24/7 recording. On batteries it sleeps between visits.14
  6. Optional: add the chime in Apple Home with its HomeKit code, or turn on wired RTSP for Home Assistant.41
  7. Add Zigbee or Thread sensors in Aqara Home. The chime is the hub.4

Who should use the Aqara Zigbee doorbell (and who might prefer something else)

The G410 fits a home that already uses Aqara sensors and wants the chime to ring and to run them. Keep a card in the chime, and treat cloud backup as optional. Wiring is what unlocks all-day recording and the local stream.

For footage kept at home, see the Academy page on the Eufy video doorbell. For recordings on a computer you look after, Frigate records compatible camera streams. For automations on hardware you control, look at openHAB. If you already own an Aqara hub, the Smart Video Doorbell G4 is the Wi-Fi model that needs that hub for other child devices.8

Does the Aqara doorbell work on iPhone?

Yes. Aqara Home on the US App Store needs iOS 15.1 or later.7 Add the chime in Apple Home with the HomeKit code. The manual says iCloud keeps a 10-day history: one camera on a 50 GB plan, up to five on 200 GB, and an unlimited number on 2 TB. Aqara caps that mode at 1200p.41

Does an Aqara doorbell need a separate Zigbee hub?

The G410 chime is the Zigbee and Thread hub.4 The G4 cannot bind child devices directly, so those sensors need an Aqara hub.8
