Aegis is an open-source Android app for TOTP codes, the six-digit login codes that change every 30 seconds. The vault is encrypted on the phone. Backups can be encrypted and written to a file you store yourself. There is no Aegis cloud.
Android only. If you lose the phone and the backup, you lose the second factor on every site that trusted it. Export the backup before you need it, and do not email that file to yourself in the clear. Aegis does not replace a password manager. It replaces Google Authenticator if you do not want the codes in Google’s app.
Use it on Android when the codes should stay on the device. iPhone users should look at Ente Auth. getaegis.app
When you add a site to Aegis, export an encrypted backup that same day and put it somewhere that is not the phone. A second Android phone can import it. A drawer can hold the file. Icons and names inside the vault are convenient and they are also a list of your banks if the vault password is blank. Set the password. Biometrics are fine as a shortcut, not as the only key.
