LineageOS is the community Android that replaced CyanogenMod. It supports a long list of phones and keeps devices alive after the maker stops. Google is not required. If you flash the optional Google package, you put Google back.
There is no Graphene-style hardening, and many builds leave the bootloader unlocked. An unlocked bootloader is easier to tamper with than a stock phone. Updates depend on a volunteer for that model. When the maintainer quits, the phone becomes a known-bug shelf. Use Lineage to rescue hardware. Do not tell yourself it is a hardened daily driver unless you locked it down on purpose.

If you install LineageOS, decide about Google apps before you flash. Adding them later is a wipe. Relock the bootloader only if that build supports it. Many do not. An unlocked bootloader plus a lagging maintainer is a hobby phone. Use it for experiments, a child’s tablet, or hardware you would otherwise throw away. Do not put the only copy of your two-factor codes on it.
