Snowflake lets a normal browser or computer act as a short-lived entrance so someone on a censored network can reach Tor. You do not learn which sites they open. The traffic past you is still Tor traffic. You do see a connection from their network to yours, because your machine is the door. That is the whole job.
For the volunteer this is not an anonymity tool and it is not a VPN. Proxies appear and disappear on purpose. The useful version is the official add-on or the embedded badge from the Tor Project, left running on a machine that is already on. A modified build from a stranger is not the same donation.
Run it if you want to help and your network allows it. Do not expect it to hide you. snowflake.torproject.org
