The Epson Home Cinema 980 is a 1080p projector with two HDMI ports and no app platform of its own, so there is no account to create, no viewing-data feature to switch off and no ad-filled home screen. Plug in a Kodi or CoreELEC box, a laptop or a disc player and it simply shows the picture.
A projector wants a dark room and a wall or screen, and 1080p is behind today’s 4K sets. Its USB port can power a streaming stick, but that stick brings its own tracking, so choose the source as carefully as the screen.
