Tor Browser is the Tor Project’s browser. It sends each site through three relays. The site is not supposed to see your home IP address. No single relay is supposed to see both that address and the site name. That is the design. It is not a promise that someone watching enough of the network can never match the timing. A relay at the exit can read pages that are not HTTPS. Logging into your real account, maximizing the window, or opening a download outside the browser throws the separation away.
The bundle also tries to look like every other Tor Browser: tracking protection, limits on scripts, and a session that does not keep its cookies after you close it. Install the copy from the Tor Project. A “Tor Browser” from a software roundup is a common way to install something else.
Use it when the site and your home connection need to be separated, and you can live with the speed. Some sites block it. It is the wrong tool for ordinary banking under your own name. torproject.org/download
